Backyard Birds
There are plenty of birds in the backyard. Here are a few favorites photographed in Sudbury, Massachusetts in the fall of 2016.
The setup isn’t an accident. I put a 6 foot stand behind my first floor office and provided branches to perch on and food to bring them in. Chickadees, white crested nuthatches, cardinals, blue jays, and a tufted titmouse were tempted into posing for food.

LS Varsity Baseball
Lincoln-Sudbury High School varsity baseball in the spring of 2015 was incredibly fun to shoot. This was a great season with lots of drama. This was the culmination of the high school career for most of these kids. These are kids that my son, Tom, had been playing with in Little League, travel ball, Babe Ruth, and summer leagues, so I knew them and their parents. I’d coached many of them at the lower levels.
Most of these pictures were taken with my Sony RX10 II with it’s 24-200 zoom and high speed burst shooting. It’s the bursts that allowed me to include the ball in nearly every picture you see here. For every one you see it was surrounded with eight or more shots that didn’t show the action or the ball. That’s what I bought it for.
